Welcome to Tagua Nut Ivory What's New: Welcome to our new online store which offers you first-class quality tagua nut beads in various shapes and styles: tagua rounds, tagua olives, tagua lasers, tagua slices, tagua focal beads, tagua pendants, and many more as well as tagua Christmas ornaments and tagua earrings and pendant sets also made with vegetable ivory nuts. Tagua nut or vegetable ivory, known in Europe as, corozo or corozzo, was a commodity at the end of the 19th century. It resembles animal ivory in its color, hardness, look and texture but, unlike it, it is produced by a plant. As a result of its characteristics it was used in a variety of industries (most importantly the button industry). This in turn led it to be a sought after commodity for which colonizing countries like Germany and Italy waged battle. With the mass introduction of plastic, the interest and use of Tagua in the marketplace decreased. Fortunately, people today understand the need to protect our environment and have again turned to the use of renewable natural products to keep our planet and its ecosystems intact for future generations. Our Tagua nut products are natural and eco-friendly. They are produced from the seed of a palm tree called Phytelephas Aequatorialis or Phytelephas Macrocarpa which grows in the rainforests of Ecuador, South America. It is a renewable source given that no harm is done to the plant as only the mature nuts that fall from the tree are collected and used. By using these environmentally friendly vegetable ivory products you are helping in the conservation of the planet’s biodiversity and saving elephants, walruses and other ivory bearing animals as well as protecting endangered tropical rainforests in South America Tagua’s exotic origin, its similarity to animal ivory, and its organic nature has again pushed its demand as well as its reputation. It is especially used in the high-end jewelry business as a component of high quality pieces such as necklaces, watches, earrings, bracelets among others. Today, women worldwide are interested more and more in creating their own, unique, different, eco-friendly piece of jewelry or accessory for their everyday use or for that special occasion. Whether you are a business women or full-time mom you will no doubt have a very busy schedule with little time to get out and look for these amazing, ecological and natural tagua nut beads which are much needed for that special project and which can hardly be found at your regular bead shop. Tagua Nut Ivory brings you the ease of being able to spare just a few minutes of your precious time sitting at your computer shopping for the beads that will surely glow and show in your finished piece. You can definitely look forward to many compliments (and perhaps a few of those envious looks) while at the same time having that reassuring feeling that you too are one of many that care and help preserve our endangered species and rainforests. We at Tagua Nut Ivory wish you a pleasant and inspiring shopping experience at our store and are glad to be of assistance if you have any questions or comments.
